Mini Clean Electricity for Household Use: A Do-It-Yourself Approach

Abstract


This work concentrates on brief review and simplifies design of photovoltaic (PV) power system for domestic electricity generation. Solar power (as a clean electricity) technology is not without huge initial cost for installation and necessity of expert service. This paper attempts to provide a do-it -yourself approach with intention to reduce initial installation service charge and possible needs of expert service charge. It does this by briefly reviewing the existing work and providing a detailed and simplified analytical explanation on how a non-expert can install the technology for household use. The construction comprises of connections of inverter, battery, charge controller, solar plate and mounting or installation. It provides power through the sunlight by collection of rays from the sun in day time and storing it in battery for night use. This paper concludes with challenges on penetration of green electricity to the community with the suggestion that solar subsidy be introduced to accelerate clean energy infiltration in third world countries.
